Are you an animal lover that wants to make a difference in the lives of countless homeless and rescued animals in Puerto Rico?
Our Volunteer Trips are 5 day, 4 night stays perfect for the active & adventurous traveler who likes to venture off the beaten path and wants to give back. Volunteers will stay in our 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom guest house located in the heart of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Pricing options include airport pick-ups/drop-offs, all ground transportation (including gas, tolls, and parking fees), lodging, a Moyo Village shirt, daily excursions, and daily volunteering with local animal rescues. Airfare, meals/groceries, and travel insurance not included. Fundraising options available (earn up to $500 cash back!) Maximum capacity is 7 (6 volunteers + 1 trip host.)

Sample Itinerary:

Thursday - airport pick-ups, grocery shopping

Friday - hike in El Yunque National Forest, lunch, volunteer at partner rescue

Sunday - volunteer at partner rescue, lunch, adventure to a secret waterfall

Monday - airport drop-offs, explore Old San Juan (later flights)

Monday - explore Old San Juan (or free time to take a bicycle out)

Tuesday - head towards the west side of the island and climb down into a seaside cave, take in incredible ocean views, lunch, relax at a local beach

HOW DOES FUNDRAISING WORK?
30 days before the start of each Volunteer Trip, you will be given a private link to collect donations to earn cash back to use towards your trip costs (or towards merch!) All donations received help support the partner rescues that you'll be volunteering with.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
For all Puerto Rico trips we recommend packing light and airy clothes - items that are good for hiking and volunteering in heat + humidity.

Long pants (below the knee) are recommended for volunteer days.

Close toed athletic shoes that you don't mind getting dirty - you'll need them for volunteering, for hiking, and they might even get wet on the way to a waterfall!

NOTE: most of our volunteers get by with only a carry-on; you WILL have access to a washer/dryer
WHAT WILL I BE EATING?
During the first day of the trip we will stop at a local grocery store so you can shop for any breakfast foods, snacks, or other necessities that you feel you'll need during the trip. Lunch and dinner are not included, and if you prefer to cook you can also pick up groceries for those meals. Our itinerary includes stops at delicious restaurants for lunch (plant-based options available) and we generally decide as a group what we'd like to do for dinner!
WHAT AMENITIES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE GUEST HOUSE?

Bicycles - we are 1 mile away from private beaches and resort bars & restaurants
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
If an excursion gets canceled due to bad weather, we will do our best to reschedule it for a different day during the trip. If rescheduling isn't possible, we will schedule in a new weather appropriate excursion + donate any leftover funds to one of our animal rescue partners.
HOW MUCH TIME WILL BE SPENT VOLUNTEERING?
You can expect to spend between 2-4 hours per day volunteering, unless otherwise noted.
WILL WE HAVE ANY FREE TIME?
Generally we will arrive back to our guest house around 5-6PM each evening. You can choose how you'd like to spend your evening (cook dinner for yourself, go out for a group dinner, just relax, etc.) Note that the sun sets between 6-7PM so evening options are limited. We encourage you to book extra days to continue exploring the area before or after your trip! We are happy to provide recommendations.
ARE THESE TRIPS ALL AGES?
Travelers need to be over 18 years old by the trip start date. Additionally, please note that our volunteer activities and excursions can be physically challenging with no accommodations for less active participants. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ON EACH TRIP?
We keep our trips small! Our maximum capacity is 10 (8 volunteers + 2 hosts). At this time we have no trip minimum!
DO I GET A DISCOUNT IF I SHARE A PRIVATE KING OR QUEEN ROOM?
Yes! If a Private King or Private Queen room are booked by 2 people, each volunteer will receive $100 off. Please add 2 to your cart and add the promo code SHAREDKING or SHAREDQUEEN to receive this discount!
WHAT IF THE TRIP GETS CANCELLED?
If the trip gets cancelled because of extenuating circumstances (i.e COVID-19, natural disaster, etc.) all payments including deposits will be fully refunded.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL?
If you paid in full, you will receive a full refund minus a $200 deposit up to 60 days prior to the trip start. If you have only paid your deposit, the $200 deposit is non-refundable. If you have to cancel within 60 days of the trip start, please contact us for options, as we can not guarantee refunds after this point.
CAN I BOOK A PRIVATE TRIP WITH A CUSTOM ITINERARY?
Yes! We have left select weekends open just for this purpose! Private trips will follow our typical 5 day, 4 night format, but are able to be customized based on your excursion preferences. Note that some excursions will have an additional cost. Private trips require a minimum of 4 volunteers (with a max of 8 volunteers.) You can book your preferred dates here.
